Our wonderful nanny Shelly is available starting June 14 for a family in NYC, Englewood or Teaneck, NJ. She has over 25 years of experience, has received the Covid vaccine and is CPR/first-aid certified. She’s truly an exceptional caregiver. Shelly was referred to us by a close family friend, whom she worked for for 16.5 years. Since then, she’s worked for several families (5 years, 3 years, 2 years), taking care of children ranging from newborns - age 12. We only needed her help for a month before our au pair arrived, but in that time, she exceeded our expectations. As a parent, you hope to find a nanny who loves what they do -- who has a gift and passion for caring for children, who treats this as more than just a job, who loves your children as if they’re her own. That person is Shelly. Here’s why she is amazing: - Kind, loving, trustworthy, and nurturing: She is so sweet and gentle with my 8-month-old son. The way she holds him and showers him with affection… she genuinely loves him. I love seeing how relaxed and happy he is; it’s clear he trusts her and feels safe with her. - Attentive & 100% engaged: She’s never on her phone or distracted. My son loves to crawl (fast!) and she’s always right there with him on the floor, making sure he’s physically safe. - Has the patience of a saint: Shelly has the rare ability to not only soothe tired / cranky / teething / fussy babies instantly, but she’s also unfazed by it. She’s wonderfully patient, cool as a cucumber, and never gets frustrated. - Fills the day with educational, fun activities: When she’s not singing nursery rhymes to my son (she knows an impressive amount!), she’s reading to him, playing with him, nurturing his curiosity, taking him on walks, or teaching him new skills/milestones. If we ask her to practice a skill (like clapping or object permanence) with him, she dutifully does it every day. She’s also not afraid to be silly and have fun with him. Under her care, our son has thrived. - Detail-oriented, thoughtful, and respects your parenting decisions: She’s very diligent about doing things the way *you* want them done. She respected our schedule, parenting philosophies, preferences, etc. - Upbeat, genuine, easygoing, and positive: Shelly has great energy. She is cheerful and authentic but also calming and relaxing. She’s like chamomile tea for the soul. To know Shelly is to love her. She finds the humor in things and has a lovely warmth to her. She’s just a joy to be around. - Reliable, responsible, dedicated; goes above and beyond: She did things without even being asked to. If there was any way she could help, she’d readily jump in. Shelly has received both doses of the Covid vaccine and is CPR/first-aid certified. She prefers to work with families in NYC but is open to those in Englewood or Teaneck, NJ as well.
