Need help in rehoming an older cat

Help! My mother moved into an assisted living facility and can no longer keep her 17 y/o cat. I can't keep her because I'm allergic and travel often. She is an indoor cat and has lived with my mom her whole life. Has never shared a home with another pet, so not sure how that would go. Still has her claws, but has not scratched any furniture, doors, etc.
