Connecting to the self and others through body paint to connect to our ancestral role as artists, healers, knowledge keepers & scribes. Tlacuilo: The Teachings of the Red & Black Ink ✨🔴⚫️✨ In our Anahuaka teachings the Tlacuilo, or artist, carried the responsibility of preserving the stories, the wisdom, and the sentiments of the people and their everyday existence through the Red & Black ink. Though art, the Tlacuilo served as historians, students, and keepers of the knowledge held by the knowledge keepers, ceremonial sages, merchants, and macehualli (common people). ✍🏼✨❤️ During the invasion and onset of colonialism, Europeans set ablaze the books and accounts of the Anahuaka civilizations by the mounds, burning thousands of codices that told our stories. However, the spirit of the Tlacuilo runs through our DNA and part of reconnecting with that gift is learning to connect with oneself and embodying the teachings of the Red & Black Ink that binds the duality of life and the unknown, what is seen and what can only be felt. ✍🏼❤️❤️ ✨Join us for an intimate Community Wokeshop co-led by Cihuatlatoki Laura Yohualtlahuiz (De Corazón & Kalpulli Ayolopaktzin) sharing knowledge of the role and responsibility of the Tlacuilo from an indigenous futurist lens that honors the sacredness of the duality of life and death through the significance of the Red & Black ink. ✨Body Paint instruction and guidance co-led by Tlacuilo Red (Reds Body Art, De Corazón & Kalpulli Ayolopaktzi) and Nico of Divine A&E, sharing expert body painting techniques and artistry as a form of healing and connecting with the self and our duality. ✨We are committed to creating a safe space for people to connect with themselves and others. To paint from the heart and hold the intentions and teachings of the tlacuilo. Sacred body painting, self love, and acknowledging the duality within.
