NEW CITY, NY —Stephen Hill, a former Clarkstown North student, was scheduled to speak virtually to the Clarkstown Central School District's 11th graders on Wednesday for the first of four events he conducting about sobriety and making smart choices. He is scheduled to speak virtually to the district's 12th graders next week. Hill is the author of "A Journey to Recovery," a memoir about his personal experiences battling addiction. According to his website, Hill battled active addiction for over a decade, losing interest in education, athletics and his own well-being. In 2012, he entered a treatment program and ended up staying for a full year, slowly putting his life back together. Now, Hill writes and speaks about his experiences, focusing on the perils of substance abuse and destructive choices. His program also will focus on the issue of distracted driving, according to the district. Hill is scheduled to speak virtually to the district's 12th graders on May 26th. On June 1, Hill will be at Clarkstown South to meet in-person with students and address their questions and concerns. He will be at his alma mater Clarkstown North on June 3.
