Margarita Lopez- Mustangs Ahead (LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Thursday, May 7, several Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustangs were recognized at the school's Migrant Awards ceremony. According to migrant liaison Sandra Alanis, school is particularly challenging for migrant students, many of whom live in rural eastern Manatee County. "Many Mustangs live out a Falkner Farms and travel back and forth to Michigan during the summer," she said. "They usually start school late because they are still in Michigan and often miss out most of the first quarter and a few even later." That of course affected them," continued Alanis.
