Description

SEATTLE — An overheard bomb threat prompted evacuations at King County Superior Court in downtown Seattle on Friday, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff's office. Sergeant Tim Meyer told Patch a woman standing outside the courthouse earlier in the afternoon heard a man say something about blowing up the courthouse, prompting her to leave the area and call 911. The Seattle Police Department called in the King County Sheriff's Office, who evacuated the building and brought in bomb-sniffing dogs to help sweep the structure "out of an abundance of caution," Meyer said. According to the sheriff's office, the description of the man believed to have made the threat was similar to that of a man who was escorted out of the building earlier in the day. Court officials announced the building was cleared shortly after 3 p.m.
