WESTPORT, CT — A water main replacement project scheduled to begin early next month in Westport could cause minor traffic delays and possible detours.
According to a news release from Aquarion Water Company, the project will take place on Post Road, from Main Street to Imperial Avenue. Work is scheduled to begin June 3 and expected to be completed by the end of August.
Work on the project will take place between 8 p.m. an 5 a.m. Final paving will be scheduled in coordination with the state Department of Transportation at the conclusion of the project.
The project, which will replace approximately 1,200 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion's water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions, according to the company.
"We greatly appreciate residents' patience during this project," Bill Dwinells, Aquarion's manager of utility programs, said in a news release. "We will work closely with our customers, contractor and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."
Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during working hours, according to the company. The Norwalk-based M. Rondano Construction Company will be serving as contractor for the project.
To keep customers informed about scheduled/unscheduled work, Aquarion utilizes an Everbridge notification system to call affected customers. Aquarion encourages customers to sign up for this free service at www.aquarionwater.com/alerts.
