MANASSAS, VA — JK Land Holdings LLC completed the purchase of two properties totaling 94 acres in the Manassas area, a deal that furthers the company's plans to expand its footprint in Prince William County. The land, off of Devlin Road, is zoned for commercial and light industrial and a portion for heavy industrial. A majority of the land was purchased from St. Johns Properties, according to JKLH. The company said it has no fixed plans yet for the site. "This land complements our increasing focus on Prince William County as the county seeks to grow its business and data center presence," Chuck Kuhn, CEO of JKLH and founder and CEO of Sterling-based JK Moving Services, said Friday in a statement. In 2020, JKLH bought 135 acres in Prince William County off of Wellington Road for commercial, industrial and data center development. The company bought the acreage from Gainesville Associates for a price of $47 million. A portion of the Manassas acreage is being used by JKLH's sister company, JK Moving Services, to extend its operations, clientele and employee base in Prince William County. JKLH is finishing major site work to remediate contamination at the Wellington Road site and will start building an access road soon, so construction can begin on JK Moving's new 100,000-square-foot building. A second JK Moving 100,000-square-foot building is also planned. The remainder of the land will be developed for logistics firms and data centers. JK Moving expects to add 300 new employees in the Manassas location, including administrative, sales, driver and warehouse positions. The company currently has nearly 1,100 employees located throughout the world, with the majority based in the D.C. metro area. Completion of the new JK Moving building is expected by the end of 2021, and hiring will begin shortly before that date, the company said.
