May 20, 2021
Like many local businesses, the Summit Free Public Library will be resuming our normal hoursbeginning June 1 st . That means the library's hours will be Monday-Thursday, 9am-9pm; Friday and Saturday, 9am-5pm. The library will remain closed on Sundays but will re-open on Sundays in September, after Labor Day, which has been the traditional launch of Sunday hours.
The maximum number of people allowed in the building at any one time will be 50 and masksand social distancing will still be required. No time limit will be placed on visits. We will also beincreasing the amount of time on our computers to 2 hours. It will come as a 'relief' to many that public rest rooms will be open, although our Quiet Study rooms and Think-it Lab will remain closed.
Adult programs will continue to be virtual. Many of our children and teen programs will beoffered outside under the tent. Susan Permahos, Director of the Summit Free Public Library is pleased that the library can now fully reopen. She states, "We know what an integral part of the community the library is. We are glad that we can offer expanded hours. Allowing our popular children and teen summer reading program activities to operate outdoors, under a tent, is another step in bringing normalcy back to our library and the public's lives."
