Full-time, Evenings - 8 hour shifts, Monday - Friday, 2:30-11pm Full Time, Evenings. POSITION SUMMARY Performs necessary duties to maintain the physical plant and associated equipment of the hospital in good repair. Minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance and other duties relating to the maintenance of the facility are the primary duties. Performs on-call mechanic duties on a rotational basis. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Trade/technical or vocational training is desired. Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) Valid Colorado driver’s license. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Knowledge of 1. Heating, air conditioning (spot and central systems) 2. Electrical equipment and systems. 3. Fuel and steam systems. 4. Plumbing systems. 5. Use and maintenance of plant tools and equipment. 6. Standard safety procedures. 7. Minor carpentry repairs. 8. Auto mechanics. Skill 1. Read, comprehend, and interpret instructions obtained from blueprints, schematic diagrams and technical manuals. 2. Make decisions based on good judgement, hospital priorities, cost effectiveness, patient and staff safety and compliance with local, state and federal and related regulatory agencies. Ability 1. To diagnosis problems relating to facilities and equipment using past experience, visual and auditory inputs. 2. To perform mechanical repair using hand tools, powered equipment and mechanical/electrical testing devices. 3. To perform assigned tasks of position without more than normal supervision. 4. To give simple instructions to others in the performance of tasks. 5. To work day, evening or night shifts as assigned. 6. To perform duties in an accurate and precise manner. 7. To perform duties in an accurate and precise manner during crisis and emergency situations when time is critical. Experience 1. 3 years previous maintenance experience desired. 2. Experience in a health care environment desired. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED 1. Wrenches 2. Screwdrivers 3. electric drills 4. electro/mechanical test devices 5. blueprints 6. technical manuals 7. service manuals WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Physical requirements may be met with the aid of mechanical devices. These are minimally necessary for the safe completion of duties: 1. Carry and manipulate equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. 2. Exposure to disagreeable environmental conditions, including dirt, noise, heights, cramped working spaces. 3. Tasks where caution must be exercised to insure safety. 4. Good vision. 5. Good hearing. 7. Fully mobile on steps and ladders. 8. Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms to safely operate hand and power tools, gauges, values, etc. INTERRELATIONSHIPS Co-workers, outside service, administrative staff, hospital staff, patients and visitors. SUPERVISORY DUTIES 1. Assists in the training of personnel in the operation and repairs of equipment. 2. Provides direction to assigned personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Repairs leaking faucets and drains. 2. Repairs diaphragm and float type toilets. 3. Installs minor equipment, (i.e. pictures, mirrors, bulletin boards, soap dispensers) 4. Performs minor repairs to hospital beds. 5. Adjusts door closures. 6. Changes filters in air handling units. 7. Responsible for preventive maintenance in assigned area. 8. Keeps records and logs of work performed. 9. Performs minor electrical repairs. 10.
