Firefighters Knock Out Warehouse Fire In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ - Washington Township and other fire departments worked swiftly together to take down an early morning warehouse fire at a paper shredding and e-waste transporter on Thursday morning. According to a report from the Washington Township Police Department, the fire ignited at Absolute Shredding on Newburgh Rd. at approximately 8:30 a.m., with the police department, fire departments and Long Valley First Aid Squad responding to the scene. The Hackettstown Fire Department provided mutual aid, along with the Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company, to extinguish the fire, the Hackettstown Fire Department reported. "Nice job by the Washington Twp fire companies, and Tri County fire company getting the fire extinguished quickly," Hackettstown Fire Department posted on its Facebook Page following the incident. Hackettstown Fire shared a video from WRNJ of an exterior shot of Absolute Shredding's facility, with black smoke billowing from the building. Lt. Mark Niemynski of the Washington Township Police Department stated in a news release about the fire Thursday afternoon, the first responders "were able to extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to other businesses and buildings in the area."
