CHICAGO — The same man is suspected of carrying out more than a half-dozen armed robberies on Chicago's North Side and nearby suburbs, according to the FBI. An FBI spokesperson said the gunman is believed to be behind least seven robberies over the course of six weeks beginning last month. They include the robberies of three TCF Bank branches located in suburban Jewel-Osco grocery stories. Images from surveillance camera footage from at least two of the robberies show suspect sporting a distinctive bandage wrap just below his left knee, leading FBI officials to dub him the "bandaged bandit." The bandit is believed to have brandished a black handgun while demanding cash from tellers, as well as staff at gas stations and convenience stores in Chicago and Elmwood Park. According to the FBI, the robber was described as a 5-foot, 6-inch to 5-foot, 8-inch Black man in his 30s with a slim build. In the first grocery store bank robbery, the gunman wore a black and white mesh trucker's-style baseball cap. In the second, he was pictured with a Chicago Cubs cap. And in the most recent photograph released by the FBI, the suspect is seen wearing a Chicago Bears hat.
