TUCSON, AZ — Tucson's Congregation Chaverim synagogue was vandalized on Tuesday night, according to congregants. The synagogue, which is located near Speedway Boulevard and Wilmot Road, had its glass front door smashed by a rock, according to Arizona Rep. Alma Hernandez and former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, both of whom attend the synagogue. In a tweet on Tuesday, Arizona Rep. Alma Hernandez described the incident, along with a photo of the smashed glass door that congregants enter through. I'm a complete mess in tears as I write this. Gabby Giffords also took to Twitter to address the incident. Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011, called Thursday night's incident "heartbreaking to see," in a tweet sent out on Thursday morning. "Yesterday, my synagogue in Tucson was vandalized," Giffords wrote. "It's heartbreaking to see such a disgusting act in a place where so many are meant to feel safest. No suspects have been named or charged in connection with the incident, according to police.
