Bees in the Neighborhood: Best Practices for Urban Beekeepers - Using science based information to educate stewards and ambassadors for honey bees and beekeeping
The apprenticeship/internship is specifically designed to give individuals the experience needed to become comfortable and confident around bees and the knowledge to become a successful beekeeper. Individuals will receive ample opportunity to practice methods of sustainable beekeeping and understand commercial honey production.
**Beekeeping experience not necessary, will train the right candidate.
Responsibilities of the Beekeeper Apprentice/ Intern include, but are not limited to the following:
Raise bees to produce honey and pollinate crops.
Collect and extract honey.
Transport hives to/from various locations.
Inspect hives and treat them for disease/parasites.
Re-queen colonies as needed.
Build and maintain hives.
