Description

This summer, Children’s Museum of Atlanta is launching a brand-new, fully revamped version of its permanent, science-centric exhibit, Step Up to Science. Made possible by a $200,000 grant from Cognizant U.S. Foundation, the refreshed exhibit is set to open June 26 and will engage children in the scientific concept of “Cause and Effect,” featuring multiple rotating modular elements. “The generous grant from the Cognizant U.S. Foundation has come at a critical time for nonprofits, as so few businesses are able to provide such impactful support while they continue to navigate COVID-19. This grant equips Children’s Museum of Atlanta to further the education and development of local children, with exceptional opportunities to explore science through play,” said Jane Turner, executive director of Children’s Museum of Atlanta. “We are tremendously grateful for the continued support from our community, allowing us to effect our mission of sparking every child’s imagination, sense of discovery and learning.” Immersing kids in various elements of “Cause and Effect,” the reimagined Step Up to Science will feature hands-on permanent exhibits that will allow children to discover the innovative world of STEM through captivating science experiments. “We’re excited to partner with Children’s Museum of Atlanta to bring this new hands-on science exhibit to the community,” said Kristen Titus, executive director of Cognizant U.S. Foundation. “It's important to provide children with opportunities to recognize and expand their capacity to innovate and solve problems – and this exhibit will hopefully inspire them to pursue STEM fields throughout their education, and eventually, into their careers.” In preparation for the renovation, Step Up to Science, Science Bar and Creativity Cove will be temporarily closed from June 21-25.
