Great running/hiking buddy

Description

Willow is an 8 year young German Wirehair / Lab mix. She is such a wonderful running and hiking buddy. She has had some good practice doing fat tire and slow bike rides on the Springer lead. She is excellently behaved in the car, and decently trained (and very treat motivated). She is housebroken. She’s good on-leash and decent (but not perfect off-leash), backcountry friendly off-leash (if that makes sense). She’s good if she’s home by herself all day. We adopted her last year and have worked hard to get her more comfortable around kids (the kids in her previous home were not nice to her and so, surprise, she is scared of kids). She has made great strides with our 6-yr old kid but we cannot trust her around other kids, she snaps at them. She only snaps at kids when she’s on leash and feels trapped. She is also the alpha female and so clashes with other alpha females. She seems fine with male dogs, especially younger male dogs. Once she knows you are her person (she really warmed up to us with treats and walks/jogs over the course of a few weeks), she is fiercely loyal and I am confident she’d protect me from anyone/thing. My ideal home for her would be kid-free (or kids over ~10) with an active person/couple, and no small pets (she’ll kill bunnies, chickens, guinea pigs, etc). Rehoming her with another dog would be a maybe depending on that dog’s personality. I can’t stress how much we love her and wish her the best and that’s why we’re trying this; she deserves a home that’s right for her. Willow would come with beds, harness/leash, leftover food, meds (she gets rimadyl and an arthritis shot occasionally), toys, etc. the whole package!
