Description

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE MESSAGE. I WILL ONLY REPLY TO EMAILS THAT INCLUDE SPECIFIC INFO. I am hiring for my local superfood company. It's an e-commerce business that sells cacao from ethical direct trade with Mayan collectives in Guatemala. In June I am opening a brick-and-mortar cafe in NE Portland. The ideal candidate will work on both "back end" and "front end" tasks. Ecommerce duties: • Labeling and organizing product inventory on shelves • Order fulfillment (preparing packages to mail via Shopify, Etsy, etc) • Food packing (measuring shelf-stable foods and sealing in packages) Cafe duties: • Helping customers • Point-of-sale checkout • Preparing beverages • Cleaning COMPENSATION: $17 per hr HOURS: The week of May 24-28 will be training plus I'll need help moving inventory and equipment to the new location. Once the cafe opens (hopefully June 2), this will be part-time, probably 20-25 hrs per week. The cafe will be a fun and meaningful place to work. This is your chance to get a foot in the door and meet me and the current assistants (3). REQUIRED: Relevant food industry experience, current food handler card, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, self-reliance, adaptability, good verbal and written communication, good attitude, friendly demeanor, ability to blow the customer's mind with thoughtfulness, ability to work in teams and alone, and ability to work mostly on your feet for 4-8 hour shifts. Must be willing to work with a mask on and regularly report on health/COVID status until local laws permit otherwise and/or you can attest to being fully vaccinated. PREFERRED: Personal experience with Guatemalan, Mayan, and/or Latinx culture and food. Familiarity with the ceremonial cacao movement. Experience with raw foods, superfoods, chocolate and/or cacao. Experience in a rapidly changing start-up business is also a plus but not required. And a desire to make the world a better place. Please send an email with your resume as an attachment (PDF preferred, but doc/docx is fine), and with a cover letter and any questions you might have in the email body. If you qualify, I'll reply to set up an interview. INCLUDE IN YOUR MESSAGE YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF CHOCOLATE BAR. I will only reply to messages that include this!
