Way Finders currently has an exciting opportunity for a Housing Inspector to perform inspection of residential properties to ensure compliance with established Housing Quality Standards, DHCD and other inspection requirements. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Conduct all assigned inspections accurately and in accordance with policies, procedures, and requirements; Report instances of suspected program fraud or child neglect/abuse to appropriate Rental Assistance personnel. Establish and maintain complete and accurate files and records; Distribute appropriate notices, reports and forms to appropriate Rental Assistance or Agency staff as required or requested. Assist other Rental Assistance or Agency staff in understanding of inspection procedures or requirements. Promptly alert Director Inspection Services and/or Inspection Supervisor of any problems/shortcomings of computer systems, equipment and/or procedures. Maintain effective working relationships with property owners, tenants, maintenance people, co‑workers, state and local enforcement agencies; In consultation with the agency departments and/or team members, coordinate and conduct meetings with property owners, management agents, and/or tenants to provide information on program requirements and guidelines, lead paint laws, housing quality standards, housing opportunities and client empowerment; Appear in court as keeper of records as required; Wage range $17.83-$21.40depending on education and experience. Hiring Requirements/Preferences Associates degree in business administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Minimum 2 years of experience within building construction, remodeling or inspection; Must maintain Housing Quality Standards Certification; Thorough knowledge of building codes laws and regulations; Knowledge of Hampden and Hampshire County region to be served and municipal codes officials; Demonstrated effective mediation, negotiation and problem solving skills; Possess positive attitude and self motivation; Position requires valid drivers license and working vehicle; Ability to pass a CORI Apply here:
