The Front Porch is more than just a music school -- it's where music meets community. Local educator Emily Morrison founded the organization her home's actual front porch in 2015, with the strong belief that music is a universal language that brings people together. It's a bridge between our past and our future, that allows us to express ourselves creatively and connects us with others. Inspired by the rich musical heritage of Central Virginia, today The Front Porch represents a vibrant community of music lovers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. In addition to classes, open jams, workshops and concerts, the Roots and Wings outreach program partners with organizations committed to serving children in challenging circumstances to offer group music classes and individualized musical mentorships throughout the community.
The Derelectrics is a Charlottesville-based blues-rock band featuring Mike Burris on electric guitar, Emily Morrison on keys, Jake Hopping on bass and Stuart Gunter on drums.
Rob Cheatham is a singer-songwriter from Charlottesville who has performed with various local bands including The Nice Jenkins, Gunchux, The Borrowed Beams of Light, and now Rob Cheatham & Co. Rob's music reflects characters he has known and places he has lived and grown.
