Featuring 6 local artists and one-of-a-kind stage effects, this homegrown visual and lyrical journey will change your perspective on hiphop. In the 1970s, an underground movement known as "hiphop" began to form in the Bronx, NYC. It focused on emceeing at house parties and neighborhood block party events held outdoors. Over 50 years later, it has turned into the giant we all see today. Join us June 18 for an event that keeps up the tradition of unifying communities through art with a modern twist. BarKodZ wraps up stories of oppression and progression in rhythmic and poetic fashion. A POV from overlooked urban communities, persons of color and allies. This is not your "average rap show." This is a homegrown visual and lyrical journey that is truly one-of-a-kind. Using various stage effects, energetic sounds and a transport Cube that takes things to the next level, this show is guaranteed to change your perspective on hiphop. Kush Gang This tag team combines two different walks of life to form a style of wordplay that will put you on cloud nine. Keese Allen A wordsmith with insightful wordplay combining street with spiritual and common knowledge with a chill vibe. Equally Opposite A homegrown alternative hiphop duo with universal sound and energetic lyrical prowess. Sons of Ichibei The founders and gatekeepers of Nine Pillars Hip-Hop Cultural Festival. With clean, precise wordplay this tag team embodies hiphop. Chef Wavy Smooth sound influenced by the nightlife and hustle of Richmond and everyday urban society. Ace Way A teen emcee telling the story of inexperienced youth trying to balance their curiosity and anger by using music as a way to escape the troubles of this world.
