Schedule will be communicated on a bi-weekly basis. The flexible schedule may include mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Please note, the successful candidates will be required to work most Saturdays and Sundays during the year with days off falling during the week. The current six (6) vacancies are at the following park locations: 2 positions - Lake Padden Park 2 positions - Cordata Park 2 positions - Bloedel-Donovan/Whatcom Falls Parks In a regular non-benefitted position with the City of Bellingham, employees are allowed to work up to 69 hours per calendar month and flex up to full time for up to four months each calendar year. These positions are not eligible for benefits, except as required by law. This position is anticipated to be working full-time during the months of June through September. This position becomes represented by the Local 1937 bargaining unit after the completion of 1040 hours working an average of at least 12 hours per week, on an annual basis. JOB SUMMARY: Monitors assigned park areas to ensure safety and security for scheduled park events and daily park users. Communicates with citizens and develops positive relationships with park users by providing assistance and information. Enforces City and departmental regulations as appropriate, and informs law enforcement of disturbances as needed. Performs basic custodial tasks to ensure cleanliness and safety for scheduled park events and daily park users.
