2 Metro Stations To Reopen After Completing Platform Repairs

ARLINGTON, VA — Just in time for Memorial Day, Metro is reopening the Metrorail station at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday, following the completion of three months of work to rebuild the platform and perform other upgrades, according to a release. The Addison Road station will also reopen Sunday as part of the same maintenance initiative. With the reopening of these two stations, Metro has finished the first stage of its Platform Improvement Project, which saw platform reconstruction and upgrades to 12 stations in Virginia and one in Maryland. When the Addison Road and Arlington National Cemetery stations reopen on Sunday, Blue line service will return and Yellow line trains will travel from Huntington and Mount Vernon Square through the end of the summer platform work. On May 29, the project moves into its next phase, which will see platform reconstruction at four Green and Yellow line stations: Greenbelt, College Park- University of Maryland, Prince George's Plaza, and West Hyattsville. These stations will be closed through Sept. 6 to allow for construction. Metro is offering a number of travel alternatives for customers served by these four stations. The FEMA community vaccination at the Greenbelt Station will remain open through its scheduled June 1 closing. People will be able to access the center by using free shuttle buses, Metrobus, car, taxi, ride-share, or the MARC Camden Line.
