PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton University's application for the proposed Lake Campus project in West Windsor was approved by officials recently. The West Windsor Planning Board unanimously voted to approve the site plans. The site is located along Washington Road and Route 1 and is near the Delaware and Raritan Canal. The planning board approved the application but with a few conditions, that will be made available once the resolution is adopted in June. The plan includes 379 graduate housing units and a 180,000 square foot Raquet center for Lake Campus North. The housing units will include bike storage rooms, a cafe, a kids' playroom, community room among other amenities. The Racquet Cente will relocate from their existing facilities located at Jadwin Gym in Princeton. The facility will include indoor tennis courts, squash courts, locker rooms, coaches' offices, sports medicine facilities, and a fitness center. Additionally, the plan also calls for the construction of a small operations center, as well as the relocation of the rugby and recreation fields. Lake Campus North is a 60-acre project on the north side of Washington Road. Princeton University's Lake Campus South application was approved in April. This campus is on a 35-acre property, along Washington Road. It includes the thermally integrated geo-exchange resource central utility building, also known as TIGER CUB. It will deliver thermal energy to buildings and will connect two thermal energy storage tanks (TES). The campus will also include a five-story parking garage, softball stadium and grass flexible recreation fields. Princeton University acquired 216 acres of land between Washington Road and Alexander Road in 1922. In 1945 and 1948, they acquired a third and fourth farm in the area. In their plan presentation, the university said they hoped to develop "a state-of-the-art campus that Princeton University and West Windsor Township can take pride in." Thank you for reading.
