Police said his body was found July 31 in a corn field in the 14000 block of FM 1100 near Manor, and it is believed he was first robbed at the hotel before being shot and killed at the location where his body was found. Five suspects were arrested in September in connection to Branham's death. "Detective Turck was our lifeline. We knew we could call him at any hour when we were searching for answers on our son's disappearance," said Conny Branham, mother of Christopher Branham, in a video. "On behalf of the Branham family, I want to congratulate Detective Turck on this award and you deserve every accolade," Jim Branham said. "Unfortunately, our paths crossed, but if there is anybody we wanted to be by our side during this, it was Detective Turck." The couple nominated Turck for the 100 Club of Central Texas' 2021 Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer, which honors law enforcement officers who go above and beyond to serve their community. "When your peers and bosses respect you for your work, that's one thing, but when the family of a victim feels that strongly about it, that kind of validates the amount of work we put into this case and it means everything to me," Turck said.
