Denver Area Among Top Metros For Rebounding Business Foot Traffic

Foot traffic at metro Denver businesses is rebounding at a higher rate than other metro areas across the country, according to a new report. The data science team at Zenreach analyzed 37 metro areas with the highest increase in visits, by percent, since Jan. 1. Denver's metro area was ranked No. 5, with a 110 percent increase: Pittsburgh, PA (308 percent)Detroit-Warren-Dearborn, MI (183.83 percent)San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad (118.68 percent)Chicago-Naperville-Elgin (112.38 percent)Denver-Aurora-Lakewood (110 percent) Most metro Denver counties moved on Sunday to Level Clear, which allows businesses to operate at 100 percent capacity. The new level will remain in effect for a three-month observation period. Colorado also lifted the statewide mask mandate after new guidance was issued Thursday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many Colorado businesses no longer require masks. Foot traffic and in-store visits are up by 38 percent across the U.S. since the beginning of 2021; however, the latest number is actually a 9 percent decrease from where the country was a month ago, when Zenreach reported nationwide foot-traffic was up 47.4 percent from the start of the year.
