Description

GREATER MORRISTOWN, NJ — Greater Morristown is beginning to return to its Memorial Day traditions. Events will include the Morris Plains Memorial Day Parade and Morris County's annual ceremony. The Morris Plains parade halted last year because of coronavirus restrictions. The event returns May 29 in a socially distant, modified manner. The ceremony at Roberts Garden starts at 9 a.m., and the parade begins a half-hour later. Many of the regular bands and groups will attend. Unlike past years, there will be no handouts to spectators and no picnic at the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter. The Morris County Board of Commissioners will host its annual Memorial Day observance at noon Wednesday on the county courthouse front lawn (56 Washington St., Morristown). The county encouraged people to watch the ceremony on Facebook Live. (Lawn access will be limited to press and invited guests because of COVID-19.) The event includes the presentation of Morris County Distinguished Military Service medals to local veterans. Thanks for reading.
