Pfizer COVID Vaccine Offered Thursday For National City Youth At Sweetwater High

By Chris Jennewein, Times of San Diego May 20, 2021 Sweetwater High School will play host to a vaccination clinic for National City youth to receive first or second Pfizer shots from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, as part of the city's efforts to increase vaccination rates. Parents should contact the school to hold their student's spot and confirm an appointment time and must bring the signed parent consent form. "This is a targeted effort to vaccinate our youngest constituents who have sacrificed so much over the course of the year," said Mayor Alejandra Sotelo-Solis. "Our National City young people are eager to be part of the solution to reach herd immunity. We know for our youth and their parents it is about safe, convenient and creative ways to access the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine." At her State of the City event earlier this year, Sotelo-Solis said starting April 1 through the end of June, National City will be working to vaccinate as many people — from eligible tiers — that live and/or work in the city in the next 100 days. National City hosted the region's vaccination effort for eligible Sweetwater Red Devils in late April and now will focus on the younger students from the city's middle schools at the Sweetwater High School campus. "It's incredibly important for our school district to work with our community to ensure as many eligible students are vaccinated to support a safe return to learning," said Sweetwater Union High School District Superintendent Moises Aguirre said.
