PALO ALTO, CA — A group of suspects stole 43 handbags worth more than $150,000 from a Neiman Marcus at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Palo Alto Police Department, 10 suspects, who were all unarmed, were a "coordinated group" that entered the store and "physically ripped off security cables" to grab some of the handbags. They fled in three vehicles, which witnesses described as a white Ford Mustang, a dark Infiniti four-door sedan and a white Infiniti four-door sedan, police said.
Police said that there were five male and five female suspects, and that witnesses described them as Black, wearing face coverings and hooded clothing. Police also believe that two additional suspects were getaway drivers who didn't enter the store.
Palo Alto police said they were working with their regional partners to determine if the same group of people have been linked to other thefts.
