St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter For Homeless Families in Phoenixville, Pa is looking for a Part-time Shelter Helper to assist with the following Shelter responsibilities for 10 to 12 hours per week: Monday and Tuesdays: 4:00pm – 8:00pm (required) S/he prepares (mostly re-heats) and serves meals in accordance with the posted menu, while ensuring safe food handling and food storage processes are used. In addition, the Shelter Helper follows the shift work plan by performing the routine custodial work assigned to that shift, which may include the following items: laundry tasks, kitchen/pantry inventory, recommend food and other purchases when running low and basic cleaning of the kitchen and dining room. Additional hours are somewhat flexible during the week and will be discussed at the interview. Dinner with the residents is included. SMFS’s mission is to create a safe, peaceful, community environment for homeless families. We foster dignity and independence through supportive programming developed with local agencies and ecumenical organizations. All prospective employees must complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
