MALVERN, PA — Malvern Borough residents will choose between Democrat Zeyn Uzman, and Catherine Raymond after Tuesday's primary election in Pennsylvania. Percentage of the vote received by each candidate was: 74 percent for Raymond and 23 percent for Christopher Mongeau. Malvern Borough's mayor David Burton is not seeking reelection but three candidates sought to fill the position. On the Republican ballot for Malvern, voters chose between two mayoral candidates Catherine O. Raymond and Christopher G. Mongeau. Zeyn Uzman appeared alone on Malvern's Democratic ballot. The live links in this story will take you to Patch profile stories for those candidates. Raymond, an attorney, served on Malvern Borough Council for 12 years and on the borough's Historical Commission. Mongeau served 16 years on the borough's Planning Commission, half of that time as its chair. An incumbent District Judge seat was challenged in Tuesday's primary. Mackenzie Smith challenged Thomas Tartaglio as Magisterial Judge in District 15-1-02 as Tartaglio ran for a third term. Smith opposed the incumbent judge bringing criminal prosecution experience and a law degree. Tartaglio sought a third term, after being appointed in 2008 to the position by then-Gov. Ed Rendell. Percentage of the vote received by each candidate was: 82 percent of Democratic votes and 14 percent of Republican votes for Smith; and 16 percent of Democratic votes and 84 percent of Republican votes for Tartaglio. David Barratt seeks reelection to the Great Valley School Board in Region 2. He is currently the board president and appears on both party ballots, unopposed. Others ran for Great Valley School Board positions on the East Whiteland, Willistown, and Charlestown ballots. In GVSD Region 1 on the Charlestown and East Whiteland Township Democratic ballots were Samantha Jouin and Andrea Rizzo. The Republican ballots include them as well as Alex Enderle and Lauren Dicranian. There were two seats open in Region 1. Jouin chaired the GVSD school board's policy committee and has been serving as the board's representative to the district's diversity and inclusion committee. Rizzo is a developmental psychologist with experience advising school districts to help them make data-driven decisions. For Malvern Borough Council, Jen Benson and Mike Citron were listed on the Republican ballot, and on the Democratic ballot were incumbents Marty Laney and current board President Amy Finkbiner, as well as Zoe Warner, and Angela R. Riccetti. On each ballot, voters were to choose no more than three candidates. Five candidates appear on the Democratic ballot for Judge in the Court of Common Pleas. Three of the five are cross-filed on both ballots, and Republican voters must choose two of these three: Lou Mincarelli, P.J. Redmond, and Alita Rovito. Democratic party members can choose two from among those three and also Carlos Barraza and Tony Verwey. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
