WORCESTER, MA — If you were anywhere near Worcester late at night on May 14, you may have heard an impressive barrage of fireworks. It wasn't a backyard scofflaw, it was the Worcester Red Sox. The team released its 2021 promotional calender this week, which details all the special nights and events that will take place at Polar Park this season — including a dozen nights of fireworks. Here's the promotional lineup, according to the team 2021 WooSox fireworks (and music) May 21, Multicultural Music ThemeJune 4, Celebration of Asian-American & Pacific-Islander ThemeJune 18, Motown & More:A Celebration of JuneteenthJuly 2, Patriotic ThemeJuly 3, Patriotic ThemeJuly 4, Patriotic ThemeJuly 16, SuperheroJuly 30, Prince & PrincessesAug. 13, Latino Music Aug. 20, The BeatlesSept. 10, LGBTQ Pride2021 WooSox promotional nights Sunset catches: After every 4:05 p.m. Saturday home game ends, fans can step out onto the field and play catch before sunset Funday Sundays: Kids get to run the bases after Sunday afternoon home games, which begin at 1:05 p.m. (excluding the July 4 game). Opening day for seniors: On May 22, fans over age 65 can walk the Polar Park track from 9 to 11 a.m. The team may hold more senior walks in the future when the team is on the road. Women on Wednesdays: During each Wednesday home game, the WooSox will spotlight a woman making a difference in the community. So far this season, the team has honored ballpark designer Janet Marie Smith, and YWCA Executive Director Deb Hall. College nights: For Thursday home games, college students can pay $15 and get a ticket and $9 toward concessions at Polar Park.
