Under the general supervision of the Director of Central Services, the HVAC Technician specializes in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units as well as performs various routine maintenance assignments and assists the Supervisor in the repair and maintenance of physical structures, equipment, and fixtures of the facility and grounds. Collaborates with the Supervisor & others for the efficient completion of projects. Assists with, supervises as needed and to maintain the environment in a sanitary, orderly, safe and attractive condition. Attempts to accomplish this goal with a minimum disturbance to other departments’ activities. JOB DESCRIPTION: • Installs, maintains, and repairs the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units. • Performs emergency repairs efficiently. • Ensures compliance with appliance standards and OSHA regulations. • Properly assesses HVAC units, diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults of the units. • Works from written requisitions or verbal instructions. • Prioritizes urgency of work request. • Provides light carpentry duties; install shelving, repair windows, screens, blinds, and suspended ceilings. • Operates a variety of power and hand tools. • Replace lamps, lightbulbs, light fixtures, etc. • Assists the Supervisor in coordinating estimates on projects, performing in-services, translating, training, etc. • Provides general maintenance service to facility personnel, for example, assemble furniture and accessories. • Maintains work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition. • Responds to all facility emergency codes. • Attends facility-sponsored training on Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safetly, Right-to-Know, Chemical Hygiene, and all other mandatory trainings/in-services. • Always maintain a professional appearance. • Participates in scheduled department meetings. • Reports any violation of OSHA regulations to the Supervisor. • Works on a variety of projects that maintain the building as well as the grounds. • Notifies the Supervisor of any problems or delays in projects. • Reports defective materials, faulty operation of equipment, and unusual matters to supervisors and appropriate personnel. • Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility medical staff and patients. • Abides by all relevant facility policies and procedures. • Occasional shift changes may be required, including overtime, weekends, and after-hours emergency response. • Some scheduling, filing, organizing may be required. • Moves quickly and efficiently through tasks with minimal instruction and monitoring.
