The Plant Utility Person will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of either a specific plant or multiple plants. This role is required to work safely and productively in an industrial maintenance environment. The Plant Utility Person should be available for any schedule and have the ability to move to our other locations as needed. This includes working overtime and weekends as needed. The incumbent must be highly motivated, able to complete tasks without direct supervision, and have the ability to communicate issues to their supervisor. This role receives guidance with respect to general objectives. In the majority of tasks and projects assigned, the incumbent determines methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments while operating within specific policy guidelines. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned and directed by the Supervisor Asphalt/Concrete Plant Operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Clears working areas and equipment in and around the facility and office including the use of high pressure hoses, digging and maintaining drainage ditches, and shoveling muck, stone, and sand from around employees or fixed equipment. 2. Visually inspects the rolling equipment, utilizes the skid steer, dump truck, and sweeper, and reports any malfunctions. 3. Maintains and assists in the reporting of the maintenance completed, parts replaced and issues on each piece of equipment. 4. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repairs for machinery. 5. Performs and assists in the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and installation of new or repaired parts. 6. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. 7. Helps assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and helps repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. 8. Operates cutting torch and/or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. 9. Climbs stairways and catwalks to perform duties. 10. Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing products and supplies manually. 11. Lubricates plant conveyors as well as change gearbox oils EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Preferred, but not required. Less than one (1) year of related experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
