Welcome to Housepitality NOLA We, the leaders of The New Free World, present to you HOUSEpitality New Orleans: a series of dance parties dedicated to the underground scene of House Music including it's many sub genres from all over the world while also delivering the sweet, warm hospitality of New Orleans. Quick history lesson: House is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by a repetitive four-on-the-floor beat and a typical tempo of 120 to 130 beats per minute. It was created by DJs and music producers from Chicago's underground club culture in the 1980s, as DJs from the subculture began altering disco songs to give them a more mechanical beat and deeper basslines. The genre was pioneered by DJs and producers mainly from Chicago and New York such as Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, Ron Hardy, Jesse Saunders, Chip E., Steve "Silk" Hurley, Mr. Lee, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Marshall Jefferson, Phuture and others. From its beginnings in the Chicago club and local radio scene, the genre expanded internationally to London, then to other American cities such as New York City and Detroit before becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Now were taking our own ignition to make New Orleans more apart of house music history. Thursday, June 3rd 2021 we'll be kicking off our very first HOUSEpitality New Orleans featuring our in-house dj, DJ HNDRCKs, followed by the headliner of the night, Lady Lavender. Hailing from Southern California, Beth Lauren Cohen AKA Lady Lavender is a DJ, radio personality, and dancer. Lady Lavender’s sound includes house, techno, breakbeat, electro, garage, disco, and more. She is a co-founder of For The Record - a New Orleans based creatives' collective. Her newest project includes Secret Handshake - a DJ duo with Nile Ashton. Every other Thursday we'll be bringing in a variety of talented DJ's and on occasion our club favorites will return to bless our souls. Good vibes and respect to one another in our inclusive space is required from our beautiful guess while we supply you with the unforgettable HOUSEpitality of New Orleans.
