Stoughton Looking For Residents To Help Plan New South School

STOUGHTON, MA — School officials are looking for two community members to help with the planning of the new South Elementary School. The Stoughton School Committee is accepting applications to serve on the South School Building Committee. Last month, the Massachusetts School Building Authority invited Stoughton Public Schools into its eligibility phase that could bring a new elementary school to the southern area of town. This phase doesn't guarantee state officials will provide a grant for a new school, but Stoughton was one of just 15 school districts invited into the program this year, Superintendent John Marcus said. During the eligibility phase, school officials will be tasked with preparing a feasibility study. Specifically, school officials want candidates with the following expertise: Architecture, engineering and/or construction experienceKnowledge of South Elementary School's programs and communityApplicants should apply by emailing Marcus at [email protected]. If you apply, include a letter of interest and a resume with a list of your qualifications. The last day to apply is Monday, May 24. If Stoughton gets state funding for a new elementary school, it will be the second new building for the district since 2019, when the new Stoughton High School opened.
