Description
Come celebrate Juneteenth in the sweet city of Sugar Hill! We will have a live D.J., various entertainment, food trucks, tons of vendors.
June 19, 1865, also called Juneteenth or "Freedom Day" commemorates the end of slavery for the remaining enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas. In the 1870's Juneteenth was not declared a national holiday, so church members raised money to purchase land and created Emancipation Park.
Juneteenth is celebrated throughout the Unites States by families in their own backyards. Towns throughout the country (like Sugar Hill, GA) enjoy community-wide barbecues and block parties. Juneteenth is a day to highlight the resilience, solidarity, and culture of the Black community but people of all races are welcome.
