Press release from the Northport-East Northport School District: May 19, 2021 Ocean Avenue Elementary second grader Quinlan Brennan has received an Award ofExcellence in the National Reflections Art Contest for her film, "Quinlan's Fireside Chat."Quinlan will receive a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, and her film will be included in thetraveling exhibition. Quinlan is one of only 14 students to be recognized with this award for the film production category, and is one of only seven students in the state to be recognized in the contest overall. Her film was informational, sharing insight on the "people in our past, and how they make the world a better place." Quinlan then reflects on the accomplishment of historical figures including Ghandi and Albert Einstein, amongst others. The National Reflections Art Contest is hosted each year by the National PTA andstudents in grades Pre-K through 12th are invited to create and submit original works ofart in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition,Photography and Visual Arts. These works are then judged by a group of art professionals,who select the winners. "We are incredibly proud of Quinlan and her accomplishments.
