BAY SHORE, MY — A Bay Shore man crashed his car into a telephone pole and a fence while driving drunk with two children in the car Tuesday night, according to Suffolk police. Damien Williams, 25, was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry southbound on Fifth Avenue when the car struck a telephone pole and then crashed into a picket fence in front of 1356 Fifth Avenue at 9:45 p.m., police said. There were three passengers in the car; a 23-year-old Bay Shore woman and her two children, ages 4 and 5, police said. No injuries were reported. Officers at the scene found that Williams was intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger under Leandra's Law and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said. The children were released to their mother. Williams is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
