Photo Credit: Wendy DesChene 2-Hour Visiting Artist Workshop Date: Saturday, September 11, 2021 Time: 2pm-4pm Description: Join Food Justice exhibiting artist Jeff Schmuki in crafting three types of simple hydroponic systems from everyday materials. Hydroponics is the process used to grow plants without soil and means "working water." This workshop will include basic hydroponic principles, one of the more popular methods for growing food in confined spaces. The cost of the workshop includes all the materials to build a mini hydroponic system with a live plant to take home, watch grow, and love. Tuition: $55 Materials: All materials are provided. Location: Contemporary Craft - 5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201 Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. Photo Credit: Wendy DesChene About the Artist Jeff Schmuki was raised in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, an environment of extremes that nurtured a unique relationship to the fragile landscape and respect for our limited natural resources. He is a cofounder of the collaborative, PlantBot Genetics and has exhibited at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh; the Pulitzer Foundation for Art in St. Louis; and the Goethe Institute of Cairo, Egypt. Recent exhibitions include Biophilia at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum of Art at Hollins University, Roanoke, Virginia; New Ecology at the Lakkos Art Center, Heraklion, Greece; and the Mauser Foundation's EcoHouse in Parrita, Costa Rica.
