Job Summary - 3rd Shift (10pm-6:30am) The Boiler Mechanic II installs, operates, maintains and repairs a combination of boilers associated with the building HVAC (heating), process steam and related operating systems and utilities. The Boiler Mechanic II works independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary facilities maintenance team. Duties and Responsibilities • Install, run, maintain and operate boilers and accessory equipment including chiller, cooling towers, purified water systems, air compressors and other equipment across the facility and offsite. • Troubleshoot and repair boilers and all equipment related to the boiler room. • Understand and respond with the established escalation process when equipment is down. • Keep boiler rooms and other areas in a safe and clean condition. • Perform assigned preventative and corrective maintenance and complete work orders within the system (e.g. Fiix). • Perform chemical testing on water sources, document results and perform follow-up actions as needed. • Repair and replace worn and defective parts to keep equipment in proper and safe running condition. • Keep complete, up-to-date records and logs. • Complete and document routine readings and safety checks in accordance with California state law. • Support maintenance in resolution of plumbing and wastewater related issues. • Perform general building maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, light electrical, T-bar ceilings and flooring. • Assist other maintenance and facilities personnel with projects and work orders as assigned. • Support training of team members in various equipment as needed. Required Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Three years of mechanical experience troubleshooting manufacturing and facilities equipment. • Knowledge of boiler and pumping systems with the ability to maintain them safely and professionally. • Advanced mechanical skills including the ability to utilize a wide variety of portable power tools. • Strong troubleshooting, organization, communication, teamwork, time management and documentation skills. • Ability to read, understand and follow blueprints and technical support manuals. • General computer knowledge including Microsoft Outlook & Excel, work order systems (e.g. Fiix), as well as computer systems used to operate and control machines. • Basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, soldering and welding skills. Preferred Qualifications • Degree or certification in a relevant technical area. • Low voltage electrical or VFD controller experience. • PLC based control experience or BMS (Building Management System) knowledge. • Residential and/or commercial HVAC experience with EPA Refrigeration certification. • CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) proficiency. • Condition Monitoring or equivalent experience. • Bilingual in English/Spanish. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
