Press release from the City of Ames: May 18, 2021 City Hall, most City departments and divisions, and Ames Public Library will be closed Monday, May 31, in recognition of Memorial Day. Office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 1. The Community Center Gym and Municipal Pool will be closed on Monday, May 31. Ames/ISU Ice Arena will be open for public skating from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 31. Furman Aquatic Center will be open on Monday, May 31. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tot time, lap swimming, and water walking. Open swim for all ages will be from 1 to 8 p.m. For more Parks and Recreation facilities schedules, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/parkrec CyRide will not operate on Memorial Day and will return to its summer schedule on Tuesday, June 1. The Ames Patriotic Council will present a virtual Memorial Day program at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 31. Airforce Lt. Col. Brian Egger, Ret., currently of Austin, Texas, will be the featured speaker. Lt. Col. Egger is a former F-16 pilot and Iowa State University graduate. Mayor John Haila will give the City's welcome.
