AUSTIN, TX — Capital Metro will open all vehicles to full capacity starting Wednesday as the city of Austin enters Stage 2 of its COVID-19 risk level guidance. The transit service announced Wednesday all vehicles, with the exception of MetroAccess, will reopen to full capacity in response to Austin Public Health leader' decision on Tuesday to move Austin-Travis County under stage 2 rules. This stage urges businesses to operate at 75 percent capacity, and those at higher risk to avoid gatherings of more than 10. Those who are less at risk for severe illness are asked to avoid gatherings larger than 25 people. Fully vaccinated individuals under Stage 2 also no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors while gathered in private groups, authorities said. While Capital Metro will reopen to full capacity, people are still required to wear face masks on all vehicles, as per federal regulation.
