AUSTIN, TX — A man who was killed in a North Austin crash on Thursday has been identified, officials said.
Russell Charles McKiernan, 51, was identified by Austin police Wednesday as the driver of a 2005 Hyundai who died in a two-vehicle crash in the 800 block of Payton Gin Road on May 16.
Officials said the crash occurred around 2:11 p.m. Thursday between a 2005 Hyundai and a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu.
Officers said McKiernan was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas with what were believed to be minor injuries. He died at 11:04 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities said the driver of the Chevrolet remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. At this time, charges are not expected to be filed against the driver of the Chevrolet.
