MONROVIA, CA — Monrovia officials are welcoming back residents into city buildings as coronavirus safety restrictions begin to loosen after Los Angeles County moved into the yellow tier for reopening earlier this month. All city buildings are now open to the public again, but some safety precautions will remain in place to ensure the health and safety of city staff members and visitors, according to a statement from officials. The city has installed plexiglass barriers at public service desks, and hand sanitizer stations can now be found throughout city buildings. Visitors will also be reminded to maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet from other people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased its indoor mask requirements for people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, but visitors to any Monrovia building will still need to mask up. Masks must cover a person's mouth and nose before she can enter a city facility, officials said. As an extra safety measure, the city offered several of its services online and by phone for individuals who are unable to visit in person. Online services include applying for a business license, signing up for recreation classes and filing a complaint with the police department.
