Rogers Group, Inc., is currently seeking motivated SCREED OPERATORS with asphalt experience to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers in North Carolina. The successful candidates for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to: The operator on the asphalt paver making normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade, and finished cross-section of asphalt material via screed extensions. Must partner with other crewmembers to apply asphalt per plan specifications and perform tasks of other positions as instructed by crew foreman to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met. Properly follow all Company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager. Must be flexible with last-minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Ability to follow Traffic Control instructions and practice safety standards per Company Safety Policy requirements. Must adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by the company. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Screed Operator encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that are typically associated with a construction project. The employee regularly works near other heavy equipment and moving machinery. QUALIFICATIONS: At least 2 years experience working in the Road Construction Industry in high traffic areas required as Screed Operator Working knowledge of asphalt and related materials Operate paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment Complete all assigned tasks with an emphasis on quality and safety to ensure jobs are completed according to company’s standards Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and nights when necessary Withstand working outside for long periods of time in different weather conditions Be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch for long periods of time A proactive approach to daily activities, team player, and able to work independently when needed Reliable transportation required, valid driver’s license, and safe driving record.
