Description
Are you are drummer who's always thinking of or drumming up complicated patterns?
You are possibly a musician with a day-job who does not have a band at the moment and would like to be involved without the expectations and demand of touring and finding gigs.
You are drawn to the complicated, intricate, rare, international: Brazilian, Cuban or African?
You have background in African or other international percussion.
You don't mind the uncomfortable process of starting to learn the technique required for a new instrument from scratch.
If you are, then we have an offer for you.
We are a community band dedicated to learning and performing to samba and many other rhythms from Brazil.
We have played at many of Portland's premier venues, such as The Keller, The Shnitz, The Moda Center, Wonder Ballroom, The Crystal Ballroom and many others. We take our music very seriously and learn from the masters of Brazilian percussion. At the moment we are in search for people who are willing to learn our intricate designs on a tamborim.
We provide the study materials, teachers and rehearsal space and the supportive community where your talents will be appreciated. You should be willing to take your time to learn this difficult drum.
