Description

We are looking for people who want to participate in an online mock jury Zoom study. The mock jury study will be a 2-3 hour Zoom session where you will deliberate with other jurors about a legal case over Zoom. If you are eligible and attend the online mock jury Zoom study in Phoenix, you will earn either $40 if your session lasts up to 2 hours, or $60 if your lasts between 2-3 hours. You will be compensated with an Amazon gift card sent to you via email within 7-10 business days. The purpose of the mock jury study is to gain a better understanding of how jurors make decisions about capital murder cases. As a participant, you would play the role of a mock juror, watch selections from a video of a murder trial, give us your opinions about the case, and deliberate with other jurors online via Zoom to reach a verdict. Like real jurors, you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen to participate--and need to have a computer to participate in a Zoom study with a camera and microphone. The mock jury study will take you 2 to 3 hours to complete online on another day. All responses are anonymous--no names or other identifying information will be linked to your responses. The online Zoom group deliberations will be video recorded, but nobody outside of our Social Psychology and Law Lab will see them. To participate in the mock jury study, continue this 5-minute survey to provide some basic information about yourself. At the end of the survey, if you are eligible for the study you will be asked to follow a separate link to schedule a time for the online zoom portion of the mock jury study. Please do not complete this survey if you are not able and willing to participate in the online zoom mock jury study. Thank you for your time. If you have questions about your participation in the study, please email Hannah Phalen at [email protected]. Questions and requests for information regarding this research should be directed to the principal investigator: Dr. Jessica M. Salerno | Arizona State University [email protected]
