Landscape Maintenance and Installation Field Crew Position Available Landscape Design/Build/Maintain Firm (30 years in business) seeks qualified, EXPERIENCED applicants for its field crew. Must live within 20 miles of New Orleans, and have your own transportation, or use public transit, to and from work. We do not provide transportation to the job, nor do we provide meals on the job. This is part time work. At this time the work is installations & horticultural maintenance of landscaped beds, with only a small percentage of lawn care. Hours currently vary between 20 and 30 hours per week. We do have upcoming installations, which which will generally increase hours for several weeks running. Maintenance work includes weeding, pruning, deadheading, collecting leaves and debris, periodic planting of annuals, distribution of mulch, and fertilizer. We do not apply pesticides, nor do we work in trees above the fifteen-foot level. Installation includes excavation, soil preparation, off loading trucks, and planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and ground covers. We start work at 8:00 AM and are usually finished for the day by 5:00 PM. We work during the work week, Monday - Friday, only. Starting pay for qualified, experienced landscapers is $16.00 per hour, more if you will allow the use your vehicle on the job, for transporting tools, materials, or crew,. Also, we pay $0.55 per mile. (There is no mileage paid for the commute to or from work, only between job sites during the day). If you are a licensed landscape horticulturist, in the state of Louisiana starting pay will be higher. There are no benefits. A good opportunity for landscapers who need more hours, and want additional experience in the upscale residential landscape design installation and maintenance business. Also for someone who has another part-time job and has some solid landscaping experience.
