Description
The County of El Dorado Facilities Division provides a broad range of internal support services for County departments. These include construction, custodial, and the maintenance and repair of county-owned and leased facilities and grounds. Facilities is committed to plan for, build and maintain the most efficient, effective facilities for County operations for the short and long term. THE OPPORTUNITY Join a dynamic team and perform skilled work caring for and maintaining the grounds around County buildings, cemeteries, and parks. You'll also be responsible for maintaining and repairing ground maintenance equipment. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: -Weed, prune, mulch, fertilize, irrigate, and may spray plants, shrubs, and small trees. -Perform routine maintenance and repair work on irrigation systems; layout and install new sprinkler systems. -Clear and maintain grounds, paved areas, paths, walkways, and cemetery sites; pick up litter and debris in assigned area. -Operate a variety of hand and power tools such as hand and riding mowers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, tractors and attachments, chain saws, roto-tillers, rakes, shovels, hoes, brooms, and other maintenance tools. -Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition; perform routine maintenance and repair of a wide variety of grounds keeping equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following minimum qualifications: Grounds Maintenance Worker I: Six (6) months of grounds maintenance or gardening experience. Grounds Maintenance Worker II: In addition to the above, one (1) year of experience in landscape maintenance work at a level equivalent to the County's class of Grounds Maintenance Worker I. College level training in horticulture is desirable. Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
