Description
Serve Day 2021 We are partnering with churches across the world bringing opportunities to serve their local communities and share the love of God through practical acts of kindness. There are several new Serve Day Teams going out to serve our community this year, so be sure to read all of these options and select the "ticket" for the group you will be joining. 1) Serve Day for Kids or Childcare for smaller children - A place for children to have the opportunity to serve in a safe environment. Also, a place for parents to leave their smaller children while they serve. There will be crafts and fun events planned for the littles that will be used for missions later in the year. 2) Morning Pointe Senior Assisted Living- Join this team as they head out to love on the senior citizens that have been quarantined these past few months. Due to COVID restrictions, the level of participation will be determined closer to Serve Day. As of now Option 1 will be singing and playing BINGO outside. Option 2 (if allowed) will be visiting, singing and BINGO inside. 3) Parkview Retirement Community - This group is still in the planning process; however, we will be working with the staff to fellowship with and love on the senior citizens in this community in the way that best suits their needs. 4) Tennessee School of the Deaf (TSD) - This group will go to TSD to clean up and improve their playground area. They will also clear out and plant flowers in their flower gardens. If you want to serve here, please bring garden tools such as shovels and rakes, small garden tools for planting, a wheel barrow, and donations of plants/flowers. 5) Serving Those Who Serve – This group will meet at the church and will be in charge of preparing an environment of celebration for those who are out serving to come back to. This team will be providing the “after party” by setting up the tables and chairs and celebrating the wins of the day. Meal will be catered in so light set up will be required. 6) Dog Rescue/No Kill Shelter - This group will be going to a local dog rescue shelter. You will be doing outdoor projects around the mission site including, but not limited to, kennel repair, yard and premises cleanup. Donations for this event include old blankets or towels, dog treats, dog food and dog toys. 7) Police and Fire Departments – This team will travel to several different stations in Knoxville. These hard working men and women serve our city bravely every day, so we will be thanking them through lots of doughnuts and offered prayer. 8) Trash Pick-Up – This team will volunteer with the City of Knoxville and clean up trash along creek sides and in local parks. Vests, pickup tools etc. will be provided. 9) Yard Work – This team will be splitting up and heading out to some of our church members homes that need some yard work assistance. People wanting to serve on this team will need to bring yard tools, chainsaw, wheel barrow or trailer for hauling. If you do not have these items, you're still welcome to help. 10) KARM - This team will go to one, possibly two, KARM locations and assist with sorting through donations and any other tasks the volunteer team director may need. Volunteer hours for each person that volunteers on this team will calculated and gift cards will be sent to the church so we can help someone in need in the future as well. 11) Brunch Bunch - This team will visit and fellowship with some of our elderly congregants that are still homebound due to COVID and not able to attend our weekly services. We will be serving them brunch style foods that are prepared ahead of time and brought to the persons home. People volunteering for this team will need to provide brunch for the congregant they are visiting. 12) Dog Parks - We will visit local dog parks and deliver bottled water to humans and treats for their pups. Petting and sharing the gospel is surely possible :) This is a great event for families. 13) Deliver painted Kindness Rocks throughout the community - On June 5th many from the church will gather to paint rocks. On Serve Day we will place these rocks in various parks, schools, parking lots, store fronts, etc. in our community showering the ones that find them with love and encouragement. This is a great event for families. 14) Painting at Whittle Springs Middle School - We are partnering with this school to paint a hallway that is in desperate need of a facelift. If you enjoy painting, like airconditioned serve spaces and support local schools, this event is for you! 15) Undecided/Floater (Place me where needed) - To many choice or just don't care where you serve? After all the numbers are in we will place you on the team with the most need for volunteers.
